And Black Lung for the Kids

The next few posts will be some old blog posts that were posted elsewhere earlier (can I use the word “post” one more time in this sentence?):

And Black Lung for the Kids

I love how the new ads touting the use of coal feature a young girl of no more than ten. She oh-so-smartly informs us that there’s more than 200 years of coal right here between our own shores! We don’t have to rely on foreign oil anymore!

‘Course, a hundred years ago, that little girl would be down in the coal mines — with a canary and black lung.

The ads are produced by Americans for Balanced Energy Choices, a cover group for the coal industry. I’d like to thank them for this humorous juxtaposition.
