What Generation Are You?

Going against the grain, Penelope Trunk has devised a short quiz to determine whether you’re a Baby Boomer, Generation Jones, Generation X or Generation Y based on your use of media rather than birth date.

I got smack in the middle of X. The whole Gen thing is tricky, b/c no matter what parameters of birth year are used for X v. Y, I’m on the cusp.
To use my experience w/ tech, I ID with X. Why? I didn’t have an email account until college. I think that sums it up better than anything.
I like the idea of employing actual experiences to discern generation. But age still matters, and all this measures is how tech-savvy someone is. A one of the comments said, if Hugh Hefner scored a 12, would he be considered Gen Y? No.
It would be interesting to take into account tech issues like this, along with other experiences (like, “Do you remember the Cold War?”) that shape your worldview, and combine them into a formula that would account for your actual age.
