Overheard at Halcyon:
An older guy wooing a drunken younger woman:
“Listen to this. I wrote it down. It’s a pick-up line my mom heard in college. A guy came up to her and said, ‘Some girls say I’m hung like a horse.’ Now, remember, this is the 1950s. You know what she said? ‘So are jackasses.’”

Speaking of coffee, Sunday while surfing through job ads on Craigslist (possibly the worst place to look for a job ever), I ran across an ad for staff for a new coffeeshop, Latte Dolls. I’ve never visited the existing shop on North Lamar, but just judging from its site it’s obviously a PG-13 strip-club-cum-coffeeshop.

I still smell the perfume in the bed
The crushed linen […]

So you’re between the ages of 13 and 24. What makes you happy? A worried, weary parent might imagine the answer to sound something like this: Sex, drugs, a little rock ‘n’ roll. Maybe some cash, or at […]

The sounds of these guys (and what I thought were KC-135 medevacs but may have actually been C-9s) on the runway across the street and golf course from my house on Keesler Air Force Base, Miss. sang me to sleep at night:
The Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunters are currently deployed to St. Croix in the […]
